Puerta de Europa
is a performative installation inspired by Madrid's modern architectural masterpiece, Europe's Gate a.k.a. Puerta de Europa (conceptualized by Tif Bullard and performed collaboratively with Stephanie Bailey). The piece is a durational installation featuring two live female performers in corsets, using weight distribution contact improvisation with a 10-yard corset-lacing cord. The piece is both sculptural and static as it is per formative and active. Over an extended period time, the performers contort and section off their bodies with the cord, slowly lacing their corsets together--closer and closer as the evening progresses.
