I'm (not) a Pink Girl" is an installation featured in the Department (Store): A Collaboration with J. Morgan Puett Exhibition at the Sullivan Galleries, Chicago, Illinois.
Im (not) a pink girl. is a four-month long performative exploration in the form of an installation about the removal of pink clothing from my wardrobe. The piece serves as a changing installation/memorial of 130 personal clothing pieces in a 5 foot-long glass department store display case. The installation changes over time, and appears in four different phases over the course of the entire five month period: Phase 1. a cluttered chaos (a study in mass) Phase 2. a formal memorial (a study of sediment and of the absent body) Phase 3. a nest (a study for the soul) Phase 4. a deconstruction (a study of malformed shape and internal garment structure).
Case Inventory: 13 skirts, 9 leg wear, 28 tops, 2 blazers, 18 sweaters, 41 dresses, 6 scarves, 2 vests, and 11 pairs of shoes.
